Black Canadian Like Me

It took a Jill Scott concert in Toronto to show that when it comes to black Canadians and black Americans, there's a lot more dividing us than a border.

Could it be that Ms. Scott was asking you to tap into your Africaness, since much of the cuisine she mentioned has its roots in Africa. We all bring our lived experiences and for Jilly from Philly that was the Carolinas, which within U.S. borders has the most authentic connection to Africa. However, maybe I'm mistaken and black Canadians have no connection to Africa at all. Just my two cents.
