A Tribute to Mara Negrón

The International Institute of Latin American Literature (IILI) of the University of Pittsburgh with the School of General Studies at the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras presents a call for papers for a special issue of Revista Iberoamericana. By guest editor Lola Aponte Ramos, this issue will be called Para medir la distancia del mar a la tierra: Homenaje a Mara Negrón [Measuring the Distance from Sea to Land: A Tribute to Mara Negrón]. The deadline for submission of abstracts is September 29, 2012.

Description: We celebrate the vitality, centrality, and innovation of Mara Negrón’s philosophical and literary creation on her trajectory through our intellectual and personal life with a volume in which we gather various approaches to her critical subjects and analyses of her literary work.

Although other proposals topics will be considered, here are several suggestions: women’s writing: Clarice Lispector, Hélène Cixous, among others; deconstruction and reformulations; performance and writing; the city and its environs; Jacques Derrida in Puerto Rico; Paris and Latin America; the “impossible return”; translation and its challenges; Mara Negrón’s narrative work; poetic work; essays; cultural management; and cultural journals.

Abstracts (maximum 250 words) must be received on or before September 29, 2012. The first copy of the article should be submitted for review by January 15, 2013; the final print will be due on March 30, 2013.
