A prize of $10,000 is given for a debut novel or short story collection published in the United States in the current year. The winner will also receive a week-long residency at the University of Idaho during its Distinguished Visiting Writers Series and a residency fellowship at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming. Authors, publishers, or agents may submit four copies of a book published in 2012 with a $40 entry fee by December 28.
