Check Out This New Poster For “Kinyarwanda” (Plus Trailer)
I just received the below poster in an email invite to a screening of Alrick Brown’s 2011 Sundance Film Festival entry, Kinyarwanda, which won the World Cinema Audience Award.
I’ve never seen this poster and assume most of you haven’t as well, so I’m sharing it here, along with the film’s trailer, which follows underneath.
We’ve given some ink to the film on this website, but for those just joining us, or those in need of a reminder… the film’s synopsis reads: “At the time of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, the Mufti of Rwanda, the most respected Muslim leader in the country, issued a fatwa forbidding Muslims from participating in the killing of the Tutsi. As the country became a slaughterhouse, mosques became places of refuge where Muslims and Christians, Hutus and Tutsis came together to protect each other. Interweaving 6 different tales that together form one grand narrative, the film is based on true accounts from survivors who took refuge at the Grand Mosque of Kigali and the madrassa of Nyanza.”
I wasn’t able to see the film at Sundance earlier this year, due to some scheduling conflicts, and the fact that I was at the festival for just 5 of the 10 days. But, luckily, I’ll be attending a screening of it this Friday, which will surely be followed with a full review.
The film is still without distribution.
