"All of our humanity is washed out!" That is so telling on Viola's part and that is the constant obstacle that people of African descent deal with both in our professional and personal lives! And what Denzel said when he was directing (his first directorial project, if I'm not mistaken) a Winan's video, "We need more of us behind the camera." And the fact that folks (not always but sometimes - Tavis) have issue with portrayals of maids and rogue cops that issue has to be taken up with the industry. That is a different conversation and endeavor.
